Named after the first President (in 1859) of BMI, J.B.Humffray of Eureka Reform League fame.
The space has had many uses over 140 years: library, ballet school, meeting space, recitals, displays. Located in 1860 heritage building in the centre of the Ballarat CBD and Arts Precinct. The building contains many other spaces of interest including the library and the Batten Room holding a heritage-listed collection of books, journals, newspapers, archives and artifacts.
The Humffray Room has marvelous ambiance, high ceilings, ornate cornices, all beautifully restored and painted. Comfortably seats 150 or usable as no-seat open space. North-facing with high windows, venetian blinds, small balcony overlooking Sturt St. Grand view across Sturt St to University of Ballarat Arts Academy in former Post Office and Court Houses along Camp St.
First floor serviced by a lift. New M/F toilets on mezzanine floor immediately below in theatre foyer avilable for use in conjunction with Humffray Room. Speaker system, laptop and projector for Powerpoint available.
The ‘Theatre Foyer’ is also available for hire, in conjunction with the Humffray room or separately.
