Musician working in Meat Market
Cleopold is the musical project of Melbourne based artist Geordie Hewitt. Cleopold's debut EP Altitude & Oxygen was released on June 10, 2016 through Detail Records, the boutique record label owned and curated by Nick Murphy (aka Chet Faker). The tracks on the five-song set demonstrate wide-ranging production values and display the varied sides of Cleopold's persona. Written and recorded in Los Angeles in his then bedroom, the EP proved to be a cathartic exercise for Cleopold. “Down In Flames” is the acclaimed first single from Altitude & Oxygen, released in 2015. Written about a romantic low-point, the single became an instant favourite on Apple’s Beats1, Australia's Triple J and LA’s KCRW; was premiered by The Fader; and racked up more than 3 million plays online.
What attracted you to the space and what makes your studio suitable for your practice?
The idea of having privacy to focus on my work and base myself in Melbourne is very appealing. Also, 24 hour access to a space dedicated entirely to my professional practice is a luxury I've always desired to have
