MARGARET MERAN TRAIL
Artist working in River Studios
Margaret Meran Trail has worked as an independent performance/art maker for many years exploring relationships between the body, psyche, and language, in solo, collaborative, installation and electronic works.
She is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Drama and Monash University, Department of Visual Culture.
From 1998—2014 she lectured in Performance Studies at Victoria University, Melbourne and supervised many postgraduate projects in performance, music and creative writing.
In 2016 she qualified as a commercial florist, and is now investigating sculptural and installation possibilities for flowers, plants and other substances. She is interested in making objects and environments that illuminate the biosocial interdependence of human, insect and plant life, protecting the interests of all.
What attracted you to the space and what makes your studio suitable for your practice?
I am making fragile sculptural forms that need space in which to grow and rest. I am also pursuing a line of thinking that supports the creation of these forms.
River Studios provides space to both make and think. In addition, being part of a community of artists inspires and restores hope, daily.
