Autumn Royal is a poet and researcher based in Narrm/Melbourne. Her current research examines feminist elegiac expression in women's poetry. Autumn worked in the publishing industry for several years before commencing a PhD at Deakin University, where she teaches creative writing and literary studies as a sessional academic.
Autumn’s poetry and criticism has appeared in publications such as Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry, Rabbit Poetry Journal, Southerly, Mascara Literary Review and TEXT Journal. She has collaborated with artists on projects spanning the genres of contemporary opera, music, visual art and film.
Autumn is interviews editor for Cordite Poetry Review and author of the poetry collection She Woke & Rose.
What attracted you to the space and what makes your studio suitable for your practice?
This space will allow me to have a functional and dedicated working environment, which is an opportunity I sincerely appreciate. Significantly, the space is also economically sustainable and supports a dedicated artistic community.
