Installation/Sculpture working in River Studios
Kate Crawford is a Melbourne based artist. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) from RMIT University. Kate's practice draws upon philosophy, science and concern for the environment with the intent to create experiences that encourage moments to reconnect and examine the interconnected nature of ourselves within the world.
Often impermanent and experiential, Kate's work utilises natural elements of salt, water, wax and wood juxtaposed with technology such as DIY electronics and sound making devices.
Kate recently took part in the 13TH MÓZG International Contemporary Music and Visual Arts Festival, Bydgoszcz, Poland and her interactive sculpture Robot was exhibited in the Kids Space of ACMI's 2018 Aardman Studio’s exhibition.
Kate currently works as an education facilitator at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image.
What attracted you to the space and what makes your studio suitable for your practice?
