1000 Degrees Glass Studios offers makers the rare opportunity to have their own studio space within a working studio glass environment. It enables artists to practice their arts’ businesses with direct access to studio equipment.
At 11.6 sqm Studio D is a light, bright airy and lockable space within a larger creative workshop. There are up to four resident artists based at 1000 Degrees at any one time creating a vibrant and supportive creative collective.
The studio space and facilities offer possibilities across a number of practices with previous resident artists working in glass, metals and jewellery, ceramics, painting and music. You'll have 24 hour access to your studio space, kitchen, bathroom, communal spaces, roller door access and security system.
The workshop features glass kilns, a purpose built glass grinding and polishing workshop, wax and mould making area, sandblaster. Kiln access for artists working in ceramics and enameling is also possible. There is a large communal space that can be used for meetings, photo shoots, spreading out and a gallery/project space offers room for trialing installs, installations and showcasing new works to visitors.
You can have a page on our studio website www.1000degrees.com.au and promotion via the studio Facebook and Instagram pages, inclusion in Studio Sales, exhibitions and the studio's online shop. If you are a glassmaker you can hire kilns, grinding and polishing equipment and the sandblaster at a 20% discount after undergoing safety inductions.
