We have a workspace available at Black Lake - a shared studio for art, illustration and design, which has been running since early 2015.
Black Lake is an air conditioned creative cabin, built into the back corner of The Compound Interest - a converted warehouse located just off Smith St in Collingwood. Our warehouse neighbours include a gallery, framers, architects, film makers and designers of all sorts.
The desk space available is an open plan room, shared with 5 artists/illustrators/designers: Sean Morris, Simon Dransfield, Sean Leonard, Marie-Luise Skibbe and Ipek Cav.
The space available comes equipped with a desk, chair, and shelving. (There is also an extra shared storage area outside the room.) It's a good amount of space for computer-based work, but can also accommodate small to medium-scale painting.
We've got a decent sized courtyard, and we share well-maintained kitchen and bathroom facilities with the rest of the warehouse.
The room is lockable and the building is very secure, with 24 hour access.
We're a 30 second walk from the 86 tram, and close to buses on Johnston Street. A short walk to Officeworks, just around the corner from multiple art galleries, and mere steps away from the best Japanese cafe and the best Vietnamese bakery in town.
Contact Sean Morris with expressions of interest, (including information about yourself and examples of your work) or if you have any questions.
