Richmond Uniting Church
Type of space: Community Hall, Multi-use Space, Art Gallery, Music Performance Venue, Music Rehearsal Space, Rehearsal Space
Spaces are available for hire at Richmond Uniting Church. Gallery 314 is a carpeted split level space which can be hired for exhibitions, workshops, rehearsals and meetings. Clifton Hall has polished floor boards and can be hired for classes such as yoga and rehearsals. Enderby Hall is an art studio with a rough wooden floor which can be hired for the purpose of art classes. The church itself has the primary purpose of being a place of worship. However it can be hired for small scale classical concerts. There is a constraint that the pews should not be moved from their regular "in the round" format. The spaces are not hired for social functions such as birthday parties. The rates are variable depending upon when the activity has paying participants or not, ie commercial or non-commercial. The spaces are close to public transport and the CBD.
Rates vary depending upon the nature of the use. Generally speaking: When participants are paying to attend, commercial rates apply [from $30/hour]; Otherwise, community rates apply [from $10/hour or half days from $25 or full days from $50]
It is essential that all hirers have their own Public Liability Insurance (PLI).
One option is to download an Application for Hirers PLI from the Uniting Church website. "Duck for Cover", "AON Insurance" and "Auspicious Arts Projects" are other options for PLI.
All spaces must be left clean, tidy, tables and chairs returned to storage areas and waste removed. When you leave, there should be no sign that you were there.
In the historic church, pews and other furniture should not be moved, nor should banners and items on the communion table.
Some 1 hour and 2 hour parking places exist. Being inner city, a lot of street parking is "permit only".
