Sanctum Studio is a dynamic new arts space in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Situated near the charming town of Montmorency and the iconic Montsalvat Arts Colony in Eltham, the studio backs onto the Plenty River parklands.
Sanctum Studio is a factory in a castle…yes, a castle, with turrets and towers covered in vines. It has 110m2 footprint available for hire with a 4m high ceiling and road frontage (35,000 cars drive past per day).
Sanctum Studio is ideal for individual artists and collectives. It can be hired as a fully equipped artist’s workshop, or for photo and film shoots, exhibitions, performances, rehearsals, classes and events. Artists looking for a long-term shared studio space are also encouraged to apply.
Sanctum Studio features a large floor space with workbenches, industrial sewing machine, computer and drawing desks, easel and fold out worktables. Additional features include lounge area, meeting area, kitchenette, wet area and toilets.
Sanctum Studio is a five-minute walk from Greensborough Railway Station. It’s located on the 901, 902 and 566 bus routes.
Sanctum Studio is managed by artist, author and puppeteer Lachlan Plain (www.lachlanplain.com) and is the headquarters of Sanctum Theatre (www.sanctumtheatre.org), a visual performance company presenting live art in everyday spaces since 2006.
Discounts available for ongoing classes run in the space.
No access to upstairs storage space. Door must be securely locked after each use. Bond will be issued depending on duration of hire and repaid on return of the keys.
Loading zone at the front of the studio. There is plenty of parking available at the back of the factory.
