Sanctum Studio
Sanctum Studio is a dynamic new arts space in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It’s a factory in a castle…yes, a castle, with turrets and towers covered in vines.
Sanctum Studio creates public art, street art and giant puppets for government, commercial and private clients. It also creates special props for film, television and commercials.
Sanctum Studio also facilitates collaborative arts projects alongside community groups and schools. We work with children, youth, families, ethnic groups, ESL classes, and people experiencing disability or mental health issues.
Sanctum Studio is home to Steez-Box Coffee (Open 7am – 12pm, Mon – Tue) and Sanctum Theatre, a visual performance company presenting live art in everyday spaces since 2006 (www.sanctumtheatre.org). It is managed by artist, author and puppeteer, Lachlan Plain (www.lachlanplain.com).
The studio is available for short-term and long-term leases to artists and creative people. See below for information on renting Sanctum Studio.
We are also working towards establishing a residency program. Contact us to stay informed about the residency program.
