We're looking for new people to join our shared creative space, in the heart of Marrickville.

The available spaces are: 2 x $125 per week 12sqm, and 1 x $115 per week 10sqm. All include: Wifi, electricity, weekly rubbish removal, kitchen and communal space for meetings/office work

There are four studios in the loft, each divided by plywood walls. Three are available. You'll be sharing the upstairs area with a variety of likeminded creative folk: designers, textiles, photography, audio content-making. We've had florists, painters, cermamicists, jewellery makers all occupy the space - it's versatile!

All of the available studio spaces occupy the street front side of the building. Double-glazed, double-width, BIG windows allow each studio to be bathed in natural light all day. The studios will come as a blank canvas, you will need to supply your own work benches and tools. There is some available shelving that we are happy to share with you

Downstairs, on the factory floor is the wood workshop. Please note that the woodworking on the groundfloor does generate dust, and it does make its way upstairs. Because of this, we don’t recommend studio space to oil painters or those working with sensitive materials.

The building is accessible via a front security door and a loading dock large enough for one car. You will have 24-hour access and your own set of keys. We prefer that the studio be used frequently to make things, gather in, work in, and not just to be used as storage space.

The upstairs space also contains the communal kitchen with large table, fridge, toaster oven, jaffle maker, sink, and tea/coffee making facilities and a lounge area.

    • We all share the kitchen, bathrooms and a loading dock.

    • You will sublease your space for a minimum of 6, and up to 12 months.

    • Sharing your workshop space with a partner or a friend is fine by us.

The Assembly, Marrickville has been operating since May 2014 and is run as a non-profit organisation with the aim of providing an affordable space for furniture makers, carpenters, designers, artists, makers and anyone who uses power tools or needs to make a bit of noise or dust.

We are looking for people who want to be part of growing this workshop into a positive, productive place. If you’re interested in having a look, let us know a bit about yourself and how you would use the space.

    Pricing Terms

Smaller studio is $500 per month (or around $115 per week)

Larger studios are both $540 per month (or around $125 per week)

We ask for a one month bond payment to be made when you join, this is just to cover our own bums when we pay the landlord, and we can deduct this from your final month's rent when you move out. We are more than happy to arrange payment by installments - we know how hard it can be to pull all the money together in one hit.

    Lease Conditions

We have a use it or lose it policy, meaning, you need to use the space frequently for making and creating - and not just for storage. Otherwise, we'll offer to another artist in need!

There are two spaces available from Dec 1, and the third will be available in January 2018.

    Parking Notes

Loading dock for use by all tenants when bumping jobs in and out.

    Street parking otherwise.
