The Farm Margaret River

Type of space: Makerspace (Shared open space for making), Manufacturing/Fabrication Space, Music Rehearsal Space, Visual Art Studio

The Farm Margaret River is located between Margaret River and Gracetown on a tributary that feeds into Ellen Brook. It is a working farm that has transformed existing buildings, such as the hay and machinery sheds, into working studios and gallery spaces. The property is nestled amongst a rural community that is interested in holistic and sustainable living practices.

Our project aims to bring together artists and agri-culturalists who are focused on developing projects that are rooted in country, in the soil, air and water of this specific location.

We offer residencies for large scale and long term projects, and our studios are available for short term use. Our residency program offered at The Farm Margaret River is suitable for painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, land and environmental artists.

From March through to April of 2017, Chris Booth, the nenowned New Zealand environmental scultor, worked onsite creating a Kinetic Living Sculture. His sculpture, Goorbal Beela, is a site-specific, culturally-sensitive installation, composed mostly of stone and organic materials.
