    Located in a 130 year old independantly run multi-use arts precinct that incorporates a gallery, handmade giftshop, and teaching and events space. The Old Auction House Precinct is also home to 4, with the future possibility of 9, artist studios which are available for rent for artists working in any medium

    Each studio space features high ceilings, large open work area, and access to the TOAH kitchenette, toilets, lunchroom, common area, and library. Each space issecurely lockable and will has access to WIFI. Artists who work out of TOAH will have access to the rotating gallery space in The Studio Gallery which will be available for display of works. To allow public viewing of the artists in progress all studio spaces will have a window into the TOAH Gallery spaces.

    A temporary studio 5 is now completed and available for short rentals for artists who wish to teach or hold ad hoc workshops - the studio is 5m x 7m with movable benches for a flexible layout.  Please see our seperate listing for further information on this space.

    Future studio spaces, at dimensions equal or larger than the current spaces, will be available and expressions of interest are being taken for these spaces. All future areas will have access to the same facilites as currently available studios.

     

    The following studio spaces are housed in the precinct:

    Studio 1: Leadlight By Ettore

    The TOAH premier studio is situated on the Welsh St side of the complex and is used by glass artists Leadlight By Ettore. A two generation glass arts business Leadlight By Ettore create new commissions and repairs, and also teach classes, in leadlighting, mosaics, and fused and slumped glass.

    Studio 2: Story Costumer

    Caroline Sarah is a Costume Creative and Story Teller who imagines, assembles and curates unique costume experiences.

    Caroline, a natural Bower Bird, sources repurposed and vintage materials for her creations, which tap into themes of fantasy, hope, playfulness and wild imagining. She will also incorporate the work of other makers into her costumes, whether it be buttons, small paintings or weaving.

    3.5m x 6m - situated alongside The Old Auction House Gallery with a window on north wall into the Main Gallery. Accessable doorway and good visibility from the rest of the space.

    Studio 3: Wedge Tail Studio

    Working in painting, drawing, printmaking and photography; Jacquilyne Smith is a practicing artist and experienced secondary school art teacher with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from RMIT University.

    Classes are designed for kids from pre school age to 18 in the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking and collage. Adult classes and events with guest artists and makers will be added.

    3.5m x 6m - situated alongside The Old Auction House Gallery, with a window on north wall into the Main Gallery space, this studio also has a window on the south wall for natural light.

    Studio 4: Kyneton Craftery

    We’re all about crafting! Learn something, teach someone, and have some fun.

    Located in the rear of the Main Gallery, Kyneton Craftery is filled with our favorite materials from our over stuffed private stashes and some amazing new supplies!

    Craft, Chat, and Caffinate while you brush up on an old favourite, learn a new craft you didn’t know you needed in your life, or just join one of our social craft sessions and share your knowledge as well as some laughs.

    Come for a once off workshop, a regular crafting session or let us host your next party or private event, because we all know Maker’s Gonna Make and we’re here to help!

    Lease Conditions

    Rentable in 6 mth periods - payable monthly. Spaces are $150 (plus GST) per week, payable one (1) month in advance.

    One (1) month bond is payable upon signature of rental contract. Bonds will be returned no later than one month after conclusion of final rental period, minus costs for cleaning or repairs to studio space.
