AWARD-WINNING VISUAL ARTS GALLERY
Works of Art provides display and exhibtion space to showcase and sell the diversified mix work of 19 visual artists. The Macedon Ranges has more artists per square kilometer than the rest of Australia (Census) and therefore the need for the gallery.
Works of Art is open daily with free entry from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm, right in the main street of bustling Kyneton, Victoria. Kyneton is an arts destnation town with much to see. It is a one hour drive to the gallery from Melbourne, along the Calder Freeway.
This is a large red-brick gallery originally built in the 1920's as a motor gagage. From 1944, it was a thriving rabbit processing factory for 35 years. Gallery exhibition spaces vary in size and price. Artists are welcome to call in or phone (via the red 'Show Number' button) to discuss their exhibition requirements. We have gallery visitors from around the world.
The gallery began in November, 2015 and in September 2016, Works of Art won the Macedon Ranges Business Excellence Award for the Best New and Emerging Business in the Macedon Ranges.
The Governor of Victoria, Linda Dessau, chose Works of Art for her visit to Kyenton for a closed meeting with the artists in November, 2016.
Kyneton Railway Station is also in Mollison Street, on the Bendigo/Melbourne line. The gallery is over the road from the famous Piper Street restaurant and shopping zone.
Works of Art is the only gallery on the planet where people can walk in and purchase prints from the 1768 - 1771 first voyage of discovery by Captain Cook and Joseph Banks on board The Endeavour. We have set 70 from the 100 limited-editon of Banks' Florilegium rare and museum-quality prints which are being progressively sold. This work has been described as "the finest print run of the twentieth century."
We welcome visitors with the option of a free gallery tour to talk about the stories behind the artists and their work.
Full terms and conditions are emailed to artists who require information about exhibiting and selling their work through Works of Art.
Gallery exhibition space is paid by exhibitors monthly in advance by direct deposit.
Works of Art pays artists batched payments twice a month for sold artwork less 15% gallery commission which goes to the marketing budget. Artists are emailed advice of sold work and payments to your account for your record keeping. As well as marketing, Works of Art does business administration of the gallery.
