Montsalvat Workshop
Montsalvat is a premier tourist destination in Nillumbik, with visitor numbers exceeding 40,000 per annum. Throughout the year Montsalvat plays host to exhibitions, workshops and concerts as well as private and corporate events. It has been the home to the Choral@Montsalvat Festival and Winter Solstice, our own Arts Festival, the starting point of the Nillumbik Mud Brick Tours and point of call for popular TV shows such as Post Cards and Melbourne Weekender.
Montsalvat has a distinctive identity that evokes the architectural significance and grandeur of the Heritage listed buildings, the tranquility of the stunning gardens and grounds and the support of an extended artistic community.
According to the Victorian heritage database, Montsalvat is historically, technically, architecturally, aesthetically, socially and spiritually significant to the State of Victoria. In addition to these important heritage values, Montsalvat has further significance as a cultural organization in the arts and cultural environment of Victoria because it has consistently been a place where art is exhibited, concerts are hosted and words are celebrated. It is a place where artists gather, interact and make work and significant and unique architectural icon providing a range of commercial and community undertakings
Montsalvat is open 7 days a week from 9-5. Closed on Good Friday, Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year’s Day.
