Creative Spaces Guild

Creative Spaces Guild

Creative Spaces’ latest project has transformed over 1000m2 into a diverse collection of arts spaces in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct.

Creative Spaces: Guild demonstrates how vacant retail space can be re-purposed to meet demand for smaller arts spaces in a neighbourhood defined by major arts venues.

Creative Spaces: Guild is an example of local and State Government partnering to deliver infrastructure for the arts in new ways.

City of Melbourne’s Creative Spaces program, in partnership with Creative Victoria, has transformed the entire ground floor area of a residential tower to provide smaller tenancies suited to arts organisations and creative practitioners.

Located at 152 Sturt Street in Southbank, Creative Spaces: Guild comprises:

  • a coworking space for independent producers and creatives - designed by Archier
  • Melbourne offices for established arts organisations the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and Melbourne Fringe Festival.
  • Studio 6 - a multi-use space for hire
  • Assembly Point - a curated public gallery
  • Café Godot - designed by Aktis Architects, opening soon
