ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR A CREATIVE SPACES STUDIO LICENCE

PLEASE NOTE:

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ONLY APPLIES TO SPACES MANAGED BY THE CITY OF MELBOURNE’S CREATIVE SPACES PROGRAMME. It is not the criteria used by other spaces listed on the website.

ELIGIBILITY

Creative Spaces managed facilities are generally suited to quiet and non-odorous forms of art. Licence applications for noisy or odorous forms of art such as practices that require kilns, open flames, power tools and aerosol cans may be considered ineligible.

Artists must be over the age of 18 years to qualify for a studio.

Assessment criteria are weighted as follows:

1. Art form                       10%

Diversity of art form within the building

2. Professional capacity   20%

Formal training and education

Engagement with Melbourne’s art sector

Exhibited or published work

Received awards or grants or residencies

3. Commitment and capacity to use studio    30%

Regularity of use

Commitment to use at least 2-3 times per week

4. Commitment to Council’s vision          40%

Willingness to abide by the Rules of the Building and directions of Council

Willingness to participate in Creative Spaces initiatives
