Jeweller working in River Studios
Suzanne is a mother of two small children making a career transition from 20 years as a senior executive in the IT/corporate security sector to fulfilling a life long love and passion for jewellery and design. Her main creative outlet during my corporate career has been writing, both fiction and non-fiction and continues to be but one of her creative pursuits. Undertaking the Advanced Diploma in Jewellery and Object design at Melbourne Polytechnic has tested her physically, mentally and emotionally which, though difficult, has enabled her to develop strong hand-skills and design foundations to be a highly skilled jeweller.
What attracted you to the space and what makes your studio suitable for your practice?
River Studios was a great option for me in a number of ways. Firstly, as an emerging jewellery designer I believe immersion in a creative space will help me establish my practice and hone my craft more quickly than if I tried to go it alone. The studio also affords me a ‘thinking space’ away from the beautiful chaos of our two young sons!! And finally, the location is great, making it easy to fit my jewellery designer role in with my other commitments.
