Artist working in River Studios
Jane holds a bachelor degree in Sculpture and post graduate certificate from the Victorian College of the Arts. Over thirty years, she has worked in a variety of media including photography, printmedia, textiles, installation and design. She has exhibited in leading independent galleries and craft outlets in Melbourne, Australia and received support from state and national arts funding bodies.
Jane’s recent work takes its form in fabric, as deconstructed images of critically endangered animals native to south-east Australia.
As an artist she is interested in exploring ways to communicate the rapid change on climate systems and on nature. At a time when extreme weather threatens our health, food and water security and life on Earth - Jane asks the question, why was talking about the weather ever deemed as ‘small talk’?
Jane also trained as a teacher and over the past 15 years has worked in schools, education management and environmental education. In 2015 Jane won the prestigious Victorian Environmental and Sustainability Educator of the Year award from Environment Education Victoria – the award recognises the exemplary contribution to the field of environmental and sustainability education within Victoria.
