Pop-Up at Ormand Hall
2 April 2013
Berlin gallerist Matthias Arndt has turned his back on white-cube commercial gallery spaces and has popped up in an unexpected place - above the Belgian Beer Cafe.
Migration is the first exhibition to take up the temporary space in Ormond Hall, one of the Royal Institute of the Blind Buildings. Arndt says that Ormond Hall reminds him of his own gallery's origins in Berlin 20 years ago when artists, curators and galleries did shows and events in abandoned or temporary spaces.
The owners of this temporary space plan to create an Urban Village that showcases the best of Melbourne’s food, entertainment and cultural scene.
