The New Creative Spaces Website
20 October 2014
You may have noticed by now that the Creative Spaces Website has been reborn. Having served the creative sector for over 5 years, what began as a simple database of spaces has now become a fully-fledged web application with over 1000 active listings across Australia.
The main objective of the redesign was to create a great user experience, helping creative practitioners to more easily find and secure space to produce, develop and perform creative work.
We have greatly improved the search functionality, provide more advanced search options and serving better, clearer results. Additions include Space Suitability, Ceiling Height, Lease Duration, Parking Facilities, Public Transport, and a Keyword search.
Space Type and Suitability
Refining your search is even easier with more ‘Space Types’ – from Co-working, to Photography Studios and Workshops – as well as a growing list of ‘Suitabilities’ – such as Painting, Sound, Jewellery, and Residencies.
Search by Location
You can add and remove multiple locations in our new search. Simply start typing the suburb or municipality (Local Government Area) and a handy dropdown list will appear. Click on the option you would like to add and it will appear below the search bar. You can then add more locations, or remove locations by clicking the ‘x’.
You can also use free text to search for single postcodes or suburbs (e.g. ‘2000’ or ‘Sydney’).
You can now view results using our new larger map. Clicking on a space will zoom in on the location, giving you an idea of surrounding spaces and amenities. Zoom out to see all spaces across Australia. Map results can be filtered using the advanced search options.
Each listing page has been revamped to take advantage of the great photography from our space listers. Clicking on the ‘image slider’ will enlarge images to fill your screen, showing more detail and allowing for panorama shots.
Information is now organised to deliver the most important details first – availability, price and terms at the top – while the map shows the space location, and suitability is clearly listed.
You can now browse spaces and save all your favourites, as a shortlist, or just a bit of inspiration. To add a space to your favourites, simply click the heart icon from the results page, or click ‘Add to Favourites’ on individual listings. You can then visit your ‘Favourites’ page to view, contact, or remove saved listings.
It’s now easier than ever to contact Space Listers. Simply click one of the ‘Send Enquiry’ buttons to send a request or query to the manager/owner. They’ll know where the enquiry has come from and get straight back to you. Alternatively, where a phone number is included, you can phone them directly to get a faster response.
