Peta Murray & Jane Murphy

About

Peta Murray is a playwright turned writer-performer and dramaturg. Best known for Wallflowering, she has written over 15 plays, all of which have seen professional production including the AWGIE-winning The Keys to the Animal Room and Salt, winner of the Victorian Premier’s Award for Drama. Peta was awarded a Centenary Medal for Services to Society and Literature in 2003. Recent projects include Things That Fall Over which premiered at FCAC and vigil/wake, a project that had two iterations at Arts House. Peta holds a PhD from RMIT University where she is a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Media and Communication. Current research includes an ARC-funded Discovery project, Staging Women’s Lives: Theatre, Feminism and Socially-Engaged Art. 

Jane Murphy has been a design professional in Film and Television for 30 years. At art school she engaged with Circus Oz, the Pram Factory, and Melbourne’s vibrant inner-city art scene. From 1980, based in Sydney, she worked on community art projects and festivals, before moving into Film and TV as a graphic-artist and art-director. Jane has designed live shows for La Mama, FCAC & Arts House, and collaborations with Peta. Her practice encompasses digital-projection, site-specific installation and immersive environmental designs.
