About

Suzie J. Jarmain is a transformational acting specialist and theatrical performance consultant. A graduate of the School of Creative Arts, Wollongong University, Suzie launched her career as an actor and theatrical performance maker in Sydney, 1993. She has now worked with national and international companies; National Theatre of Scotland (UK), BBC Scotland (UK), Traverse Theatre (UK), The Arches (UK), North Edinburgh Arts Centre (UK), The Performance Space (AUS), Melbourne Theatre Company (AUS), La Mama Theatre (AUS) and Australian Theatre for Young People (AUS), amongst others. Suzie won several categories including best play at Short and Sweet Sydney (2010) directing It’s All the Rage culminating in a special documentary with Movie Xtra. In 2011, Suzie undertook a postgraduate diploma in theatre directing with Victorian College of the Arts achieving distinction. She continued to combine directing, performance, and writing for theatre in practice-based Master's project Faking It for Real and solo new work, Elizabeth Taylor is My Mother (2015). The project won the prestigious Philip Parson’s prize awarded by the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (AUS). Suzie is now finalizing her doctorate with Monash University where she. She is also a regular guest teaching artist with Union House Theatre (VIC), Victorian College of the Arts (AUS), and Monash University (AUS).
