Sunshine Coast Council

The Sunshine Coast is home to a thriving arts community. The natural beauty and connectivity of the region makes it a wonderful place for artists to live and practice.

In 2018, Sunshine Coast Council launched a 20-year vision for the arts and developed the region’s first Arts Plan.

The soul of our community is our flourishing arts ecology: nurturing connections, promoting experimentation and inspiring collaboration. The Sunshine Coast Arts Plan brings to life our cultural aspiration for the region to be a creative, dynamic, vibrant place where arts are experienced as part of everyday life.

To achieve this, one of four goals in the plan is to create a dedicated network of places and spaces for artists to connect, create and collaborate and to advocate and facilitate access to affordable spaces for making, exhibiting and performing.

Creative Spaces does just that.

Through Creative Spaces, council will support artists and creative practitioners to find spaces, while also encouraging the broader community and industry to engage with the arts; by promoting, uncovering and developing new creative spaces and residency programs and unlocking underutilised spaces for creative activation.
