Mimmalisa ia a Melbourne based transdisciplinary artist who has been practising since 1995. She has expanded her foundation in analogue photography to encompass other art forms as her curiosity has shifted from medium to concept to relationships. Mimmalisa's installation, Autumn was exhibited in Roar Studios, one of the oldest ARIs in Fitzroy. Despite staging a series of exhibitions in conventional gallery contexts, Mimmalisa is passionate about collaborative modes and the power of socially-engaged art practice to engage publics in alternative settings. Her artwork has strong connections to identity, place and context. These central themes provide the foundation for her artistic investigations into alternate histories, pedagogy. intercultural dialogue, ethnobotany and ecology.
Mimmalisa's employment history in the field of Education also encompasses over 20 years of Visual Arts teaching experience in secondary schools, institutes and more recently in galleries/cultural institutions such as ACCA.
