workshop (in person)

INDIGO SHIBORI

In this full day workshop you will learn how to create and maintain an Indigo dyeing vat, fibre preparation, safety and more.  Working with traditional Japanese shibori techniques you will create unique and interesting designs on fabric samples. You will then use your preferred shibori method on a length of fabric which you can then turn into a scarf, wall hanging or use in another project.

Plain cotton fabric will be provided and you are encouraged to bring along clothes or fabrics you have that you might like to add to the vat in the afternoon. For example, T-shirts,Tea towels, Socks/Undies, Small lengths of fabric, Small amounts of yarn etc. Natural fibres only (cotton, silk, linen, wool etc) and light in colour. Recycling is encouraged and we recommend pre-washing your items to remove any finish that may be on the fibres. This helps the dye 'stick' to the fibre.

No previous experience necessary.

Make sure any items you bring along are natural fibres, pre-washed and light in colour.
