Space overview
A peaceful, light-filled studio is available in Abbotsford. With a bright and leafy outlook, this space is ideal for artists, writers, and designers. The space available for rent is half of a creative studio, you will be using a 3x5 metre space in room twice that size.
Private, quiet 10m2 room in shared studio (1/2 is my jewellery studio, access not included) Suitable for: - Painters, illustrators etc (desk & comfy chair) - Writers (desk, comfy chair, WiFi & powerpoints) Included amenities: - Desk - 2x comfortable armchairs - Well stocked tea & coffee station w/ kettle & microwave - Mini fridge for storage of your milk/small snacks - Wi-Fi, heater, fan, communal kitchenette access The photos show the space set up as a counselling space, as that how it has been used recently, but as the counsellor is above to move out and an artist will be using the room on Fridays, it will soon be set up as an art space.
Just four kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD and spread over 16 acres, the Abbotsford Convent – with its 11 historic buildings and gardens – is Australia’s largest arts and cultural precinct.
The former Convent of the Good Shepherd, this ex-monastic site is now owned by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) – a not-for-profit organisation that operates the Abbotsford Convent on behalf of the public.
Today, the Convent is home to over 100 studios, two galleries, cafes, a radio station, a school, and an abundance of green open space. Each year the Convent welcomes a diverse range of art projects, rehearsals, workshops, exhibitions, markets, events and festivals.
