*** In light of a rapidly evolving situation of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and in line with current advice from government and health authorities, Dancehouse is extending its closure and suspending all public activities until further notice. *** Australia's premier centre for contemporary dance, combining research, training and performance. Situated in the Melbourne suburb of North Carlton, Dancehouse provides continuity, support and synergy to the development of contemporary dance practice and artists. Dancehouse has three studio spaces available for hire, for casual rehearsals, creative development, workshops and classes, informal showings and performances. Our spaces are suitable for fundraising events, seminars, gallery showings and corporate events. SKYLAB is a small, light filled space perfect for intimate rehearsals and solo dance. It has a mirror wall, barre and professional Tarkett dance floor. The Upstairs Studio is a larger, serene space with high vaulted ceilings and a generous amount of natural light. Workshops and classes are perfectly suited to this space, as is larger group rehearsals. The Sylvia Staehli Theatre is perfect for performances, with a raked seating bank and capacity of 100. This space is a black box with theatre curtains and a grand presence. This space connects directly to our well-equipped green room and foyer with bar services. Times can be extended for performances. Hires are subject to the artistic program. All bookings must be confirmed by Dancehouse in writing (Office Hours Mon-Fri, 9:30AM-5:30PM). First time hirers will need to fill out an application via dancehouse.com.au/spaces, and attend an on site induction.
