Space overview
Creative Spaces currently has an available studio at Boyd School Studios for an Aboriginal Creative Residency.
Residency applications open 19 September and close 3pm, 18 October 2022. View the grant guidelines.
The aim of the residency is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and small creative businesses to advance their practice through the provision of studio space, facilities and a grant.
It is recommended that you attend a site visit of the space before submitting an application. Creative Spaces are conducting three site visits at Boyd:
- Thursday 29 September at 11am
- Wednesday 5 October at 2pm
- Wednesday 12 October at 2pm
To attend a site visit it is essential to RSVP with your name, contact number and preferred date via creativespaces@melbourne.vic.gov.au.
Please note: images are indicative only.
Studio specifications: a seventeen square metre studio with large windows, good natural light, wooden floors, high ceilings, wireless internet connection. Not suitable for suspension (due to the heritage nature of the building).
Artist fee payment: $5,000 (plus studio space at no cost, valued at $3,400).
Dates: From December 2022 to December 2023 (specific dates to be determined).
Access: The successful applicant/s will have 24/7 access to the studio and Boyd building facilities and are required to use the studio a minimum of twice per week.
Boyd is the City of Melbourne’s first integrated community service space, housing the Southbank Library, a cafe, family services, meeting rooms and artist studios.
