Seashell Arts Pod
Space overview
This space has lovely karma! We share a lovely, flourishing garden courtyard where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine and chat to friendly neighbouring artists (and their dogs!) It's peaceful; it's flexible; it's beautiful.
The Pod is freshly painted and fully furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern furnishings, including a tuned Beckstein upright piano and a large trestle work bench. Decorated with a fresh green and blue colour scheme, the entire design is based around a favourite collection of art works representing the sea – which, coincidentally, is just down the road! You can roll up the rugs and move the furniture around (well maybe not the piano or dresser...) and give yourself a lovely, large artistic space to work in. Painting, drawing, writing, photographing, sewing, composing and contemplating are all appropriate. There is plenty of space for these activities!
Driving in, through an industrial and commercial area, to an unexpectedly lush and established garden around the car park, and an even more impressive garden courtyard, isn’t the first surprise you encounter when you arrive. The Pod is a truly delightful studio space. But the best part - in my opinion - is that just down the road is Kororoit Creek: pelicans, mangroves, cormorants, vintage fishing huts to the left, Altona dog beach to the right, and miles of wetlands along the bike path, if you have a bike or a strong walking game! If I were a painter I would move in permanently. Altona shops are my favourite, but there's a nearby shopping area towards Williamstown with a supermarket, as well as Greek,Thai, Pizza, Bahn Mi and Fish & Chips takeaway if needed.
