Space overview
A Kindsugi Future Studio is a new workshop that is inclusive as a diverse-friendly and all-abilities space. The space is designed to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing, and elevated by its inclusive, environmental and ethical underpinnings.
A versatile space with polished concrete floors, high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows for a feeling of spaciousness, and soft furnishings and plants throughout to create ambiance and comfort. All furniture can be rearranged. The space is fully wheelchair accessible, and has a disability-accessible, all genders bathroom with a baby-change area. The space includes large walls for artists who may wish to display their art; a main workshop area that can be used for crafting and making by creatives; a comfortable space for authors to write, and open to a range of other opportunities to design, create, and enjoy. The space is currently home to second-hand books for upcycling projects, and has an artist-in-residence who is vision-impaired. Also includes a neuro-inclusive secluded reading / sitting area for when a creative may need quiet and calm, and kitchenette for coffee / tea / catering.
Located in the heart of Brunswick on Hope Street, the Studio is within close walking distance of several well-renowned Melbourne cafes and bakeries, and nestled within a bustling scene of ethically-minded businesses, artists and local residents.
