Paint N Unwind - Furnished Workshop Studio
Space overview
A furnished 42m² studio in South Brisbane where two sets of bifold doors open onto an open-air courtyard, so you arrive to tables, chairs and a kitchenette already in place and spend your time on the session rather than the setup.
The studio is a single open room of about 42m², with no partitions and nothing fixed in the middle of the floor, so it reconfigures completely between sessions. The tables are on wheels, so a long communal table, a circle, or a cleared floor takes a couple of minutes. The ceiling is around 4.5 metres and left open, with services and lighting exposed above, giving the room far more air than the floor area suggests. Underfoot is polished concrete, and the walls are glazed grid tile to about three metres with black-painted structure above. It feels like a working space built to be used hard, and paint, clay and mess are genuinely fine here. Most of the courtyard wall is glass, in two sets of bifold doors that fold right back. Open, the studio and courtyard read as one space of nearly 80m², and the light and air change the room completely. The aspect is north-west, so it picks up strong afternoon light. Power runs in the floor as well as the walls.
The studio sits on the ground floor of the Botanica building on Edmondstone Street, a few minutes' walk from the Cultural Centre precinct. QPAC, the Queensland Museum, QAGOMA and the State Library are all within about ten minutes on foot, and South Bank Parklands is a similar distance.
South Brisbane station is around five minutes away on the Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast lines, and Cultural Centre busway station on Melbourne Street carries Brisbane Metro along with roughly 40 bus routes. Both are wheelchair accessible.
West End is immediately behind us, so Boundary Street and Vulture Street are close for coffee, food and supplies before or after a session. Street parking on Edmondstone Street is free outside weekday business hours, which suits evening and weekend groups.

Access Hours
Available 7 days, 9:00am to 10:00pm, subject to existing bookings. Weekday evenings are our most available times and suit regular weekly hire. Weekday daytimes are generally open. Weekend mornings are usually available, while weekend afternoons and evenings are often committed to private events. Enquire with your preferred day and time and we will confirm availability.
Paint N Unwind runs its own painting classes and private events from the studio, so hire availability sits around a scheduled program. Weekday evenings are currently the most open, and we are happy to hold a regular weekly or fortnightly slot.
Art materials and easels belong to our own sessions and are not part of studio hire.
Toilets are in the main building and accessed by fob, which we provide for the booking.

Transport options

- Train
South Brisbane station is around a five minute walk, on the Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast lines. Cultural Centre busway station on Melbourne Street is a similar distance and carries Brisbane Metro along with around 40 bus routes into the city and across the southside. South Bank station and the South Bank CityCat terminal are both about ten minutes on foot. Both stations and the busway are wheelchair accessible.
Parking
There are four retail parking spaces at the building, shared with the neighbouring restaurant and available on a first come basis, so a space cannot be guaranteed. Metered street parking runs along Edmondstone Street, operating Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm with a twelve hour maximum stay. Outside those hours, including all day Saturday and Sunday, street parking is free. The Soda Factory car park in West End, entry from Mollison Street, offers the first two hours free with paid parking beyond that.
