Space overview
Watermark Crossing is a beautiful custom-built photography studio on a 1-acre property in Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. The studio is available for short term hire and for artist-in-residence retreats, as well as events and creative workshops. The mezzanine office is available for rent.
The space is stunning - a large bright open studio with very high ceilings and chandeliers. The studio has vintage windows and a beautiful timber feature wall with lamp-lit cubbies of curiosities built in. There are plenty of spaces to work and play - a meeting area, lounge, kitchenette, makeup areas, change room and 2 studio spaces (mostly all in open-plan except for the bathroom and change room).
The studio is named after the waterway that splits the property in two, with the studio only accessible via a boardwalk and bridge crossing in the wet season. Macclesfield is a beautiful historic town with a village vibe, and is well known for its 2 pubs, one of which is the oldest pub in the Adelaide Hills.
Located just 45 minutes drive from Adelaide’s CBD and accessible via Mount Barker (15 mins), Echunga (10 mins), Meadows (10 mins) and Strathalbyn (10 mins). “Maccy” as it is affectionately referred to by the locals, is situated amongst bush, farmland and vineyards in Battunga Country on the south-eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges, and is the source of the Angas River. Prior to the arrival of European settlers in the early 1840s, this area was inhabited by the Peramangk people who called it ‘Kangowirranilla’, a place for water and kangaroos.
