Exhibition: One day all this will be yours

On throughout April at Assembly Point, Iona Mackenzie considers folklore in a contemporary context.

Folklore is a technology that harnesses symbolic language to encrypt and disseminate psychosocial knowledge. From here spawns the idea that fictional stories contain, preserve, and communicate non-fictional histories. Weaponising folklore, Iona Mackenzie’s practice dons a selection of stories and symbols to disguise subversive discussions. Through this process, Iona urges the contemporary revival of folklore as a way to explore and articulate the relationships between historical and present day experiences.
